Course Description

This unit covers the knowledge and skills to establish a functional group and to facilitate a group within a workplace. It involves developing team plans to meet expected outcomes.

Course Content

This course divides the content into four sessions which can build upon each other or stand alone.

1. Plan for cooperation

  • Establish the goals and clarify the purpose
  • What is a group performance plan?
  • How can it help our group?
  • Striving for Concensus

2. Develop group committment

  • How to work together
  • Open communication to establish trust
  • Group dynamics

3. Resolve Problems

  • Overcome barriers to group performance
  • Work as a team to solve problems
  • Be a positive role model

4. Positively resolve conflict

  • What is your conflict management style?
  • How can we manage win - win?
  • How do you resolve conflict and work as a team?

Duration

8 hours face-to-face (4 x 2 hr workshops. 4 Stand – alone events or 1 x 8 hour day) supplemented by self-paced learning and on-the job application.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements. Cost includes individual study materials, support after class for self-paced learning. Students must provide writing materials.

Course Award

Upon completion of the self – pace material, the individual will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for BSBLDR403 - Lead team effectiveness.

Career Opportunity

Managing groups within a workplace situation is of major importance in working with others and working in a team. This unit of competency can be applied to many training packages in any workplace that requires working with others.
