Course Description

Nationally Accredited Vocational Training - Teach your area of expertise in schools or TAFE Colleges.
The 2010 version of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification is current industry best practice. To teach your passion in schools or TAFE Colleges any other Vocational Education Training (VET) Sector you will need this required qualification. This accredited course offers participants a hands-on opportunity to develop their attributes as trainers and assessors.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment requires seven (7) core units of competency and three (3) electives. Upon successful completion of all ten (10) units of competency, the individual will be awarded a national qualification TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. A Statement of Attainment can be awarded for the successful completion of individual units of competency.

Entry Requirements

Must have an area of workplace knowledge and skills expertise and / or the vocational competency to teach

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

This course requires effective language, communication and interpersonal skills. During the course we will cover teaching, assessing and keeping records. You will need to be able to:

  • Read and interpret Training Packages and government documents
  • Develop and write learning programs and lesson plans
  • Develop and document assessment plans and assessment tools
  • Present information in a classroom setting in front of peers and colleagues
  • Use the internet to research information
  • Type assignments

Proficiency in English should be a priority for this qualification. Should difficulties arise, tutoring will be offered to the student beyond the course hours for an additional fee for service.

Time Frame and Study Options

1  Blended Classroom Delivery - is a combination of self study and a face to face 5 day workshop. in other words it requires self-paced learning and pre course assignment work to supplement the face to face sessions. Work-based projects can be completed at the participant's discretion

2  Full Classroom Delivery - This is the best way to cover the required material and complete 95% of all course requirements during 2 x 5 day workshops. The method involves face-to-face integrated delivery complemented by self managed learning between the two workshops.

In both options flexible delivery schedules can be arranged and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available.

Course Delivery

The complete Certificate IV in Training and Assessment can be covered in a number (3) of ways:

1. Complete a 10 day face to face course where 95% of all work is completed in the class room sessions.

2. The second way is to complete a blended training course of self-study and face-to-face.

  • The participant will need to allow time to review the subject matter covered in the learner guide before attending one of the five (5) day face to face workshops which are scheduled continually.
  • The process is as follows;
  • Complete projects on project templates which are all included in the material before attending the face to face workshop.
  • Attend the five (5) days face to face and complete the practical assessments.
  • Complete assessment portfolio and submit post class.
  • As required free student support is offered by phone, online or by appointment to keep you on track.

3. The third way to complete the course is via FAST TRACK – meet with your instructor one-on-one to finish the course in YOUR TIMEFRAME.

  • Meet with your instructor at a convenient time (at the very least once per fortnight).
  • This option provide individual scheduling and support. Cost is $2950.00pp

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you are an experienced Vocational Education Teacher/Assessor, you may wish to complete the TAE 40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course with a combination of workshops, self-directed study and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Please enquire about our RPL or upgrade program.

  1. Interview with Academy staff member and application identifying past experiences
  2. Portfolio of evidence required to substantiate claims
  3. Observation of teaching in the classroom
  4. Oral or written questions of knowledge in the VET sector

Fees for RPL include an RPL interview, evidence plan and classroom observation. CD-ROM, Self-paced materials (Tool Box for TAE40110) and templates will be provided to applicants wishing RPL for guidance in providing evidence.

The Academy’s commitment to our Learners

The Academy of Career Training is responsible for delivering training and assessment in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015. When you finalise payments and complete all course work and assessments, then The Academy of Career Training will issue the AQF Certificates or Statements of Attainment. If the Academy closes or ceases to deliver any part of this course, then we will make arrangements to transfer your assessments and course work to another Registered Training Organisation so that you can complete your qualification, or we will refund your full fees.
