Course Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification. However, participants should:

  • Be Employed in a Relevant Role: As this course is delivered via employment-based training, participants must be employed in a drilling-related role or industry.

  • Basic Literacy and Numeracy Skills: Participants should have a basic level of literacy and numeracy to complete the course materials and assessments.

  • USI (Unique Student Identifier): Participants must provide a USI to enrol in accredited training in Australia.

Standard Course Content

4 Core Units

  • BSBSUS211 – Participate in Sustainable Work Practices

    • Learn how to contribute to sustainable work practices, focusing on reducing waste, conserving resources, and improving energy efficiency in the workplace.

  • RIICOM201E – Communicate in the Workplace

    • Develop effective communication skills, including following instructions, reporting issues, and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth workplace operations.

  • RIIRIS201E – Conduct Local Risk Control

    • Understand how to identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures to minimise risks and ensure a safe work environment.

  • RIIWHS201E – Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures

    • Gain the knowledge to follow Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to safety protocols to maintain workplace safety.

 

5 Elective Units

  • RIIGOV201E – Comply with Site Work Processes/Procedures

    • Learn how to follow and comply with site-specific work processes and procedures, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.

  • RIIERR302E – Respond to Local Emergencies and Incidents

    • Acquire the skills to respond effectively to emergencies, including evacuations, first response actions, and the use of emergency equipment.

  • RIISAM202E – Isolate and Access Plant

    • Understand procedures for safely isolating and accessing machinery and equipment during maintenance or repair activities.

  • RIIENV201E – Identify and Assess Environmental and Heritage Concerns

    • Learn to identify and assess potential environmental and heritage concerns and implement practices that minimise the impact of work activities on the environment.

  • RIIRIS202E – Respond to Site-Based Spills

    • Develop the ability to respond to spills on-site, using containment and cleanup procedures in line with environmental and safety regulations.

 

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised RII20920 Certificate II in Drilling Operations. This certification provides a strong foundation for further study or advancement in the drilling industry.

 

Please note that your certification will be issued within 30 calendar days of meeting these requirements, in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) guidelines.
