Course Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

 

There are no formal prerequisites for enrolling in the G2 Risk Facilitator Course. However, the following entry requirements should be met:

​

• Basic Literacy and Numeracy Skills: A foundational level of reading, writing, and numeracy is necessary to understand and complete the course materials and assessments.

• Workplace Experience: Some prior experience in mining or high-risk industries is recommended to fully benefit from the course content.

• USI (Unique Student Identifier): A USI is required for enrolment in any accredited training in Australia.

Assessment Method

Participants will be assessed through:

​

• Written Assessments: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions designed to test participants' knowledge of risk management processes and legislation.

• Practical Assessments: Participants will need to demonstrate their ability to carry out a risk management process, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of control measures.

This course focuses on teaching participants how to manage risks systematically through the following key areas:

1. Planning and Preparing for Risk Management:

   • Developing a structured approach to risk management in line with organisational policies.

   • Understanding legislative requirements and safety regulations related to risk management.

2. Identifying Workplace Hazards:

   • Identifying potential hazards across different mining operations and other high-risk environments.

   • Conducting hazard identification exercises and site inspections.

3. Assessing and Prioritising Risks:

   • Conducting risk assessments to determine the severity and likelihood of risks.

   • Using risk assessment tools to prioritise and categorise risks based on their impact.

4. Implementing Risk Controls:

   • Developing effective risk control strategies based on the hierarchy of controls.

   • Facilitating the implementation of risk controls and ensuring compliance with procedures.

5. Monitoring and Evaluating Risk Controls:

   • Continuously monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of risk control measures.

   • Adjusting risk management strategies as needed to maintain compliance and safety.

6. Communication and Documentation:

   • Ensuring clear communication of risk management outcomes to teams and stakeholders.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the G2 Risk Facilitator Course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit:

• RIIRIS402E – Carry Out the Risk Management Process

 

This certification is nationally recognised and is valid for five years, after which participants may need to complete refresher training to maintain compliance with industry standards.

​

Please note that your certification will be issued within 30 calendar days of meeting these requirements, in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) guidelines.
