The G2 Risk Facilitator Refresher Course, covering the unit RIIRIS402E – Carry Out the Risk Management Process, is designed for individuals who have previously completed the full G2 Risk Facilitator training and need to refresh their knowledge and skills to maintain compliance with Queensland’s mining and safety regulations. This refresher course ensures that supervisors, team leaders, and safety officers stay current with the latest risk management practices and legislative changes, keeping them equipped to manage and facilitate risk processes in high-risk environments.

The primary aim of the G2 Refresher Course is to update participants on any regulatory changes, reinforce their understanding of the risk management process, and refresh their skills in hazard identification and control measures. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

• Review and update risk management processes in accordance with recent industry regulations and best practices.

• Reassess and identify workplace hazards and risks, ensuring compliance with current safety standards.

• Implement and monitor risk control measures effectively to mitigate identified risks.

• Ensure that risk management procedures are communicated clearly to all relevant stakeholders.

• Evaluate and adapt existing risk controls to enhance safety and efficiency within the workplace.

 

This refresher course is designed for individuals who have already completed the G2 Risk Facilitator qualification and need to refresh their certification to remain compliant. It is ideal for:

• Supervisors, team leaders, and safety officers responsible for ongoing risk management processes.

• Managers and risk facilitators who need to ensure they are up-to-date with current risk management best practices and legislative changes.

• Contractors and service providers who require renewed qualifications to continue managing risk on mine sites or in other high-risk environments.

Course Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

 

To enrol in the G2 Refresher Course, participants must meet the following entry requirements:

• Completion of the Initial G2 Qualification: Participants must have previously completed the full G2 Risk Facilitator course.

• USI (Unique Student Identifier): A USI is required for enrolment in any accredited training in Australia.

Assessment Method

Participants will be assessed through:

​

• Written Assessments: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions to assess participants' understanding of current risk management processes and safety legislation.

• Practical Assessments: Participants will be required to demonstrate their ability to carry out a refreshed risk management process, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and the application of control measures.

 

​Course Content

This refresher course focuses on revisiting and updating the key components of risk management, as outlined in the original G2 qualification:

​

1. Planning and Preparing for Risk Management:

   • Review of planning processes for carrying out risk management aligned with updated legislation and industry requirements.

   • Updates on any regulatory changes or organisational requirements for risk management.

2. Identifying Workplace Hazards:

   • Refresh knowledge on identifying workplace hazards and conducting site inspections.

   • Identifying new risks associated with emerging technologies or operational changes in the industry.

3. Assessing and Prioritising Risks:

   • Reassessing current risks using risk assessment tools and techniques to prioritise and categorise risks based on potential impact.

   • Reviewing updates in risk prioritisation methodologies and tools.

4. Implementing Risk Controls:

   • Reinforcing the application of risk control strategies using the hierarchy of controls.

   • Evaluating the effectiveness of risk controls and implementing improvements where necessary.

5. Monitoring and Evaluating Risk Controls:

   • Continuous monitoring of risk controls and assessing their effectiveness.

   • Adjusting risk management strategies as required to ensure ongoing compliance and safety.

6. Communication and Documentation:

   • Reinforcing the importance of clear communication in the risk management process.

   • Ensuring proper documentation of risk assessments and actions, complying with current auditing standards.

 

Certification

​

Upon successful completion of the G2 Risk Facilitator Course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit:

​

• RIIRIS402E – Carry Out the Risk Management Process

 

This certification is nationally recognised and is valid for five years, after which participants may need to complete refresher training to maintain compliance with industry standards.

​

Please note that your certification will be issued within 30 calendar days of meeting these requirements, in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) guidelines.
